Art Commissions

Dan Smith works in acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, pencil, photography, computer graphics, as well as mixed media. This is an example of a painted portrait commission.

The art commission process includes:

  1. A photography session
  2. Selection of the photo reference, the medium, and the size
  3. A deposit of 25% of total cost paid to the artist before work begins
  4. The portrait creation, which includes at least one viewing of the partial piece by the commissioner

Prices range from $300 to $5,000. In general, prices are as follows:

  • Watercolor, pastel, charcoal, pencil
    • Unframed: $1,000
    • Matted and backed: $1,100
    • Framed with plexi: $1,250
  • Oil, acrylic
    • Unframed: $2,000
    • Framed (slats): $2,100
  • Photography
    • Unframed: $300
    • Matted and backed: $375
    • Framed with plexi: $475
  • Photo-based mixed media
    • Unframed: $500
    • Matted and backed: $575
    • Framed with plexi: $675
